The Reckless Plan

Rate this book
Former Marine Taylor Stoll is facing one of his biggest challenges yet. And that challenge goes by the name of Sadie Hart. After meeting her at a wedding, and doing a little more than just dancing, Taylor can’t stop thinking about the feisty, sexy, and utterly intoxicating nanny. But there’s only one problem: she disappears from his life as fast as she came into it.

When the two meet again at yet another wedding in Hawaii, Taylor hopes this is his chance to finally sweep her off her feet. But Taylor is crushed when he realizes that not only does she only want to be friends, but she’s busy doting after another man—a man she’s convinced is Mr.Right…

But amidst the angst exists an even greater problem: the reappearance of the Rebel Knights. Penny and Elliot are in danger once again and it’s up to Taylor to ensure their safety…as well as the safety of the woman he loves. Because the Rebel Knights know that as their nanny, Sadie is the perfect target. And they’re not ready to give up without a fight…

Will Taylor be able to keep his head while protecting Sadie from the rogue biker gang? Will he finally be able to capture the heart of the girl who has run away with his?

Taylor and Sadie have met before, at another wedding, but she was starting fresh and had no room for the Taylors of this world.

Fast forward to another wedding, and their paths cross again. Has Sadie’s fresh start started? Or will she avoid Taylor altogether?

The story kept moving forward, and I enjoyed Taylor’s character, so I kept reading. However, I did have a hard time connecting with Sadie; she comes across as shallow and immature to this reader.

Thank you to the Booksprout and the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

*I received a free copy of this book as an advanced reader copy in exchange for my review, my opinions are my own*
So this book started out drawing me in so quickly I forgot to do my highlight notes for the first quarter! I was shocked when I realized that.
And then as I was reading I was like man, it would've been great if there were other books with these other couples, it really almost sounds like there are stories there......there are other books before this, three in fact.
In fact, I really wish I had read those three books first because two twists a little over halfway through the book were the first things to really jar me out of the book. They felt like they came out of nowhere (though one of them there was a reason for that and I was pleased in the end with that). I feel like if I had read the other books it might not have been so weird, but I also felt the 'bad guys' fell a little flat for me, they were BAD, and the only purpose they were serving in the book. I mean I understand, I just wish they were a little more well rounded so they actually seemed scarier than the caricatures they were.
Speaking of caricatures, I was not impressed with Taylor, he started the book pining about the lost opportunity with Sadie, and how he was a nice guy and different and blah blah blah but kept spouting douchey phrases like "baby, I doubt you've ever been with a guy like me before". Gag. I don't think he ever really got rounded out.
But Sadie. Now there's a girl that's relatable. "And maybe I was just a teeny bit jealous of my best friend" "What a bunch of rich assholes" (though I don't agree with the thought process, I appreciated the thoughts actually being shown) "and fuck if she didn't sound sincere as hell". She was a hot mess, but a relatable hot mess, and it wasn't taken so far and she wasn't so obnoxious that it turned me off of the character.
All in all a good light chick lit read, and I would say go read the first three before sinking into this one!

Taylor and Sadie met at Elliot and Penny's wedding, where they quickly hooked up. Sadie uses Taylor as a sort of fresh start for her love life. Taylor can't get Sadie out of his head, but she wants nothing to do with him. When they meet again at Porter and Bowie's wedding, Sadie pushes Taylor away. This book is jam-packed with action, and I enjoyed that aspect. I really liked Taylor, he was sweet, and I really liked how he was written. I was not too fond of Sadie from the get-go, and it made it really hard for me to get into the book. She's very immature, and one of the first interactions we see from her is her talking all about how she can get a rich guy at the wedding so that her fairytale comes true. I dislike that she completely discounted Taylor and wouldn't even hear him out until they were friends. I wanted to like this more than I eventually did, and it was mainly because I just did not like Sadie at all.

This story was “this” close to going into the DNF pile. While I love and adored Taylor, Sadie was just not doing this story any favors. Couldn’t connect with her in any part of this story – so immature and her whole “a need a rich guy” totally turned me off. I did however, finish reading this story only because I was invested this far along with all the other characters and I wanted to see how it all ended.

These two met at Elliot and Penny's wedding and it’s a wham, bam, thank you ma’am in a bathroom for Sadie…but Taylor is wanting more. However, before he gets a chance, Sadie is gone. Another wedding, this time Porter and Bowie's, they have a chance to maybe start something up. However, Sadie is just wanting a rich man and Taylor is just wanting Sadie. Antics start, drama is lurking in the corners, angst appears and so do the Rebel Knights. With everything going on can these two find time to even talk to work things through. They know the sex is good, but communication is lacking.

This was my first read by Elle Vaughn and although I have glimpses into the pasts of the some of the characters from previous books in the series, I plan to go back and read those books. Taylor and Sadie have an sexy first meeting, a supposed one and done but life has many other plans for them. Plenty of steamy, sexy time mixed with pasts that need resolving and a suspenseful intertwined storyline brings the story to life nicely. All the elements flowed nicely and didn't seem thrown in there to just move the story along. I definitely need to go back and get some backstory on some of these characters though. While it CAN be read as a standalone, if you have any intention of reading the first 3 stories, I would definitely take them in order.

I haven't read the previous books but after the first few chapters I understood enough background to know what was happening in the main. It definitely is full of action of both the steamy and perilous types throughout, no slow burn here! Sadie seemed like her words and actions didn't match, maybe that was deliberate on the authors part but her words made her unlikeable, especially at the weddings.

The Reckless Plan by Elle Vaughn is a good, and enjoyable romantic suspense read. The story has a good story line. The characters are good, and they have good chemistry. Taylor is the typical good sweet guy, and Sadie is a little jaded and shallow. . I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is book 4 of The Plan Series, AS I have not read the other 3 I had to focus on how the characters related. Taylor is the typical good guy, Sadie is a little jaded and shallow. They hook up at the weeding of mutual friends. Sadie says it's her farewell fling to bad boys and she is going to focus on finding Mr Right. Taylor hopes this is the beginning of something good because to him Sadie is 'the one". To Taylor's dismay Sadies disappears into the night never to be seen again. Another year, another wedding, this time in Hawaii. Sadie goes to the wedding in place of someone else. Since this is the same friend group guess who Sadie runs into???? Taylor!! Sadie id still on her quest to find Mr Right. Taylor decides to be her wind man( at least he gets to spend time with her). We all know that never goes as planned. I don't want to give away any more but there are stolen kisses, misunderstandings , kidnappings and a lot more action. .
