Fated Pack #1

Bonded and Betrothed

Rate this book
A murder, a betrothal, four mates desperate to claim me… and a war that might end us all.

I always knew I would take over as leader of our pack… I just didn’t expect that day to come so soon. While I struggle with my father’s murder, I’m left little time to reacquaint myself with the pack life I left so long ago.

I discover my father’s hidden more from me than I could’ve ever imagined when I’m thrust into the midst of an ongoing turf war between us and the Langleys—a sleuth of bears who aren’t afraid to maim and kill to steal the power they crave.

Our only chance at survival is to ally with another wolf pack and the rival gang in town, the Whitlocks.

The wheels are already in motion, and a contract is waiting to be signed—there’s just one issue… I’m supposed to be the bartering chip.

Just when I think things can’t get any more complicated, my mates come barging into my life, mates I never wanted.

I’m Skylar Draven, and I have vengeance to serve, an engagement to get out of, and a pack to save. I might be regaining my footing, but one thing I’m not is weak, and I’ll shred anyone limb from limb who endangers my pack or family…

*Bonded and Betrothed is book one of three in the Fated Pack series, a paranormal shifter romance. It is a full-length 120K words novel recommended for readers 18+ due to violence and sexual situations. If you like sexy shifter mates, steamy scenes, action, and mystery, this book is for you.

Another masterpiece from Rachel that never fails me. BRAVOOO. MORE BOOKS RACHEL CAUSE YOU'RE AMAZING❤️❤️❤️❤️ SERIOUSLY. YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT ME RACHEL. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK❤️❤️❤️ I AM OBSESSED WITH RACHEL'S BOOKS SERIOUSLY.

CAN'T YOU TELL LOL.

I've been a big fan of rachel's books from the "Ascension (The Ethereal gods and make sure to read that i have a full review about it)" cause it's that great! I even re-read it like once a month😂 Idk it just me but the story for me is really great and exciting... It got me addicted for sure😆

SO WHEN I READ THAT RACHEL HAVE THIS NEW SERIES OF WOLF SHIFTERS LOVE STORY, I WAS IMMEDIATELY GOT SO EXCITED. I EVEN SCREAM AT A CAR WHEN I FINALLY GOT THE BOOK. Cause I know it will be good for sure and I will definitely have a great time reading it, AND I DID...

The whole story is well detailed but also not too boring to read, the actions is great, no unnecessary childish drama, and definitely fun and thrilling as well. You will not be bored when you read rachel's books...

I LOVE THE WAY RACHEL ALWAYS WRITES STRONG POWERFUL SASSY STUBBORN FEMALE CHARACTERS. Cause I'm stubborn so when I read someone like me i pretty much say "you go girl" many times when the heroine is being stubborn in a right way, not in a stupid childish way if you know what i mean🙏🙏🙏

‼️‼️‼️ I'M NOT PAYED TO REVIEW THIS BOOK OR ANY OF MY REVIEWS. THIS DEFINITELY MY HONEST OPINION.

✨✨ SO THIS STORY START WITH THE HEROINE FINALLY is chosen to be a alpha in her dad's pack because her dad passed away. She was attending the funeral when the book started. When the funeral is over, she was left alone with her thoughts in her dad's office that was finally hers. She start talking with her beta about little formal things than she decides to go for a run with her wolf form (alone). She came to a conclusion that she will definitely be a great alpha to her pack and lead them in a right way. She also let her grieving process heal a little bit because she knows it's time for her to really deal with her reality and moved on to focused on her big responsibility as a female alpha. She have to prove to her people and also to herself that she will a right choice for the job. WHEN SHE finished her run, she immediately talks to her beta about what's happening in the pack and what she have to know and what she have to do. She finally knows that her dad secretly behind her back agreed to marry her off to another alpha from another wolfpack, she was surprised but at the same time she was calm about it knowing her dad have a good reason for it. And then after hearing this as well, Her beta suggested the idea of them being in a fake engagement so that she can be safe and be trusted in the pack and also other people outside the pack like other wolves can respect her more. She agreed for it for the sake of the pack and also i think maybe she was still in grieving process that why she agreed cause she was not in her right mind... She asked the beta if he agreed with it being fake and isn't okay to wear his mother's ring, he said it's okay. He was actually being so sweet to her knowing he was not her mate. Weird. SO AT NIGHT she her and her beta have a meeting with the wolfpack that her dad wants her to be engaged with, they have to talk about important things. When she meet the alpha of the wolfpack, she was shocked because at the exact moment when they locked eyes to each other, BOTH OF THEM KNOW they are mates and the bond starting to grow between them even just by seeing no touching. And that's when the fun and romance and chemistry started between the heroine and her first mated hero.... The rest of the heroes will start to come too.

‼️‼️‼️Her fake fiance who is her beta, he only kissed and touch her romantically but did pleasure her down there (but they didn't have s3x though and he only do that to pleasure her and he did it without her naked okay, only her bottom is naked) he only did that one time. Never more. Especially when the heroine meet her second mate, she never touch her fake fiance again and tells him to never touch her again.

‼️‼️‼️ LET ME TELL YOU WHO ARE THE HEROES WHICH IS FOUR OF THEM. AND TRUST ME, THE FOUR OF THEM ARE VERY LOYAL TO THE HEROINE THE DAY THEY FIND OUT THE HEROINE IS THEIR MATE. IT'S A REVERSE HAREM RELATIONSHIP, BUT THE HEROES ARE ONLY LOYAL AND TOUCH THE HEROINE.

1. Everett : He is the first hero (the first mate) to meet the heroine and actually the one who her dad promised the heroine to be engaged with. Yeah to marry with to be exact. Everett is nice, very bossy and grumpy too. He is busy about the heroine's and his enemies like finding out the solution and actually the one who is very busy finding out who killed the heroine's dad. His personality is known to be grumpy and didn't make a lot of appearance because his busy things to do. But he always contacts the heroine's security or his security about the heroine like if she's home yet, what she's doing... Everett's nickname to the heroine is LITTLE WOLF.

2. ZEKE : He is the second one to meet the heroine. The second mate. Zeke is actually fun and dangerous at the same time. He always knows how to connect to the heroine and always understands her more. He is not too busy like Everett, so he always with the heroine when his duties are over. He made a lot of appearance because he always wants to be near to the heroine even when she doesn't want him to. Zeke's nickname for the heroine is BABE.

“We’re wolves, and especially with a female alpha, her mates inherently are drawn to share her. Perhaps that’s why Everett and I have shared several other women before. But never again, neither of us will touch another woman now that we’ve found our mate.”

3. ARSENIO : He is the third mate. They meet in the middle of the book so he doesn't made a lot of appearance. I also can't tell how his personalty is because he doesn't have his own POV like Everett and zeke. But a lot of the POV is from the heroine though. Hopefully in the second book we will read more about all of them cause the longer the better😝 But I know for a fact that he is a smooth talker lol. Arsenio's nickname for the heroine is FIRECRACKER.

4. The fourth and last mate. His name is ZAYN is actually Zeke's long lost twin brother that zeke never known about but finally knows when the heroine is mate with ZAYN. Zayn doesn't make a lot of appearance because he was the last mate that the heroine meet. But when he made his second appearance with the heroine, he was very sweet and romantic to the heroine. I even say aweeee lol.

“Skylar,” he says, and to my utter horror, he turns back to me, putting the pack to his back and lowering to one knee.

“I know you told me to leave but I can’t get you out of my head. I know all I can do is make my case, and I know all of this is new and you had a life before we met, but please don’t get married, give us a chance.”

(The heroine was not getting married actually. Her mom and her pack think so because she of her fake engagement with her beta. At the party and before zayn came, the heroine told everybody the truth about the fake engagement and she actually have mates and that's not her beta.)

Zayn's nickname for the heroine is Gorgeous. I don't know if that was coincidence but that's all I hear when he called her. Maybe it will changed in the second book lol.

‼️‼️‼️TRIGGER: Killing, violence, death, sadness, depression, blood, alcohol, drugs, hunting, deceptions and mysteries.

‼️‼️‼️NO VIRGINS.

‼️‼️‼️NO TALKING ABOUT PAST PARTNERS.

‼️‼️‼️ALL OF THE HEROES IS OVER THE TOP POSSESSIVE, PROTECTIVE ALPHA MALE AND OBSESSED WITH THE HEROINE... THEY ALWAYS ADMIRE HER BEAUTY AND INTELLIGENCE AND ALWAYS SUPPORT HER. They truly loves her so much. OBSESSED WITH HER 🥺

Yes, over the top possessive.

“I will need to have my eyes on her at all times. Her safety is my number one priority, always.”

All of her heroes is serious and mean to others, but only to the heroine they are always so soft on her and always make sure she's safe.

‼️‼️‼️SAFE ROMANTIC HOT SWEET LOVE STORY.

‼️‼️‼️SO MANY JEALOUS SCENES FROM THE HEROES AND LITTLE FROM THE HEROINE. I mean she have four mates who is very possessive about her, of course they have many scenes of them being so jealous if another male comes closer to the heroine.

There's too many lol.

‼️‼️‼️THE HEROINE is name skylar. She is sweet, STRONG, caring, sassy, stubborn and good person.

At first the heroine is weak and depressed, she is depressed with her life and about becoming an alpha female. But mean while, she's growing and becoming very much better than before especially when she meet the heroes... I'm glad she was realizing her sadness and take that to make her stronger than ever.

She knows how to defend herself emotionally and physically. She knows how to fight and use her guns for sure. She's amazing...

‼️‼️‼️The heroine is 24/26 years old if I'm not mistaken. The heroes is unknown though... But definitely not too old.

‼️‼️‼️NO CHEATING

‼️‼️‼️NO SEPARATION.

‼️‼️‼️NO DRAMA WITH OW. ONLY WITH OM AND ENEMIES BUT NOT TOO ANNOYING AND NOT TOO MUCH... All the drama is more focused on the enemies and family and wolfpack problems tho.

‼️‼️‼️IT HAS PUSHING AWAY FROM THE HEROINE SOMETIMES BUT NOT TOO MUCH AND NOT TOO ANNOYING.... THE HERO EVERETT PUSH THE HEROINE AWAY ONE TIME ONLY. OTHER HEROES NEVER PUSH HER AWAY....

At first i was pissed when the heroine push the first hero away and even tries to push the second hero away for some silly and stupid reason. But then when I read her pov on why she do that, i immediately understands her reason. And even though she get that between her relationship and feelings about the heroes, she didn't let that go on for too long.

‼️‼️‼️LOVE IN FIRST SIGHT OF COURSE.

‼️‼️‼️VERY VERY HOT SMUT SCENES😝😝😝😝😝😝

‼️‼️‼️THE ENDING IS A CLIFFHANGER THOUGH... ALSO The ending is the heroine is engaged real this time to the first hero which is Everett.

👉🏽👉🏽👉🏽Thank you so much for reading my review❤️❤️ For you who loves my review and follow it, THANK YOU SO MUCH. I did not get paid or be told to do a review on a book. I’m here just to write review about a book so i can remember it. Its my honest opinion😚 I didn’t know at first people will find me and follow me and trust me to be honest, I was surprised myself to look at the notifications from people who reach out to me😆 So everything i write down here on a review is based on my personal opinion and based on my true writing. I DID NOT COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW OR WRITING SKILL because at first when i was using this app for one year i didn’t know how to scroll down on a book and see the reviews from others😂😅🤣 I know, silly me but hey I finally learned my lesson 😛😛😛 Thats why when people assume i copy someone’s review i was like what? Because at first i didn’t know how to use this app properly and i didn’t know how to open someone’s review because for a year i never follow someone or add friends or someone😂😂😂🤣 (I’m laughing so hard) 🤪 AND I NEVER COPY SOMEONE’S REVIEW EVER. IF I WRITE SOMETHING WRONG OR DOESN’T MAKE SENSE PLEASE LET ME KNOW AND BE NICE OKAY. 👈🏽👈🏽👈🏽✋🏽✋🏽

I have a disclaimer down bellow if you have negative thoughts about my review😙😙😙

🌐🌐🌐➡️↘️⬇️➡️This is my own personal thoughts and opinion about the book so if thats not sit right with you or you feel I’m not being fair blablabla, please know that everybody in this world have their own different things that they like and don’t like. It may not be the same thing with you but thats okay because i am my own person and you cannot control me or tell me what to do. For example; i put ketchup (tomato sauce) on my fried chicken. You think that’s disgusting? For me its not and i’ve been eating it like that for many many years. You tell me to put another sauce and see if i like that better? I already did many many times in years but i still like the way i like it. It’s called differences between me and you and billions people in this world😊 be open minded😙 I respect people’s opinions about my opinions but in the end of the day if i say I don’t like it or i do like it, its up to me and its on me. And in the end of the day i always liked and show my respect to books and people’s opinions on books whenever that book is good or not good in my opinion 😊 Respect people’s opinions guys😙😙 I don’t want to write this down because its not really my thing to do it. To like address something like this when obviously i know the people who’s been reading my reviews many times and all the time, they are smart enough to understand and respect other people’s opinions no matter what their opinions on book or their point of view 😙😙 am i right? 💕 also there are people even though i already write “this book is different because i have my own taste of book” those people still comment my taste is this and that when HELLO… everybody have their own thoughts on books and what they want to read… why i read it then? I read it and give it a review because i have to read a book to give it a review… why not read the description book to understand before I’m going to read it? Hello just in case you haven’t notice, description books can be tricky because they write this amazing things about a book but turns out the story is so toxic. Maybe for me its toxic but not for you? YES HELLO THATS WHY US HUMAN BEING HAVE OUR DIFFERENCES, WHAT I LIKE IT DOESN’T MEAN YOU WILL LIKE IT AND EITHER WAY TOO. why i still write the review then if i just don’t like a book? Because I CAN and i want to, you cannot tell me what to do and not what to do🤪 if you still wants to be negative and be karens about my review on book after all of what i just write, i will never acknowledge you and simply ignore you because its not that hard🙏 I won’t respond to negativity comments🙏🏼🙏🏼 DON’T ASK ME AGAIN ABOUT WHY NOT RESPONDING TO YOUR NEGATIVE COMMENTS BECAUSE I ALREADY SAY IT HERE AND I WON’T BE EXPLAINING AGAIN BECAUSE WE’RE NOT CHILDREN SO ITS NOT HARD FOR YOU AN ADULT TO UNDERSTAND😌😌 YES MY REVIEW IS LONG BUT YOU READ IT ANYWAY AND ITS FINE ACTUALLY I CAN WRITE AS LONG AS I LIKE😎 YES MY GRAMMAR IS BAD SOMETIMES AND MAYBE ALL THE TIME BUT LUCKILY MANY PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND WHAT I’M SAYING🤪 ⬅️↖️↕️⬅️↩️⤴️

First of all this book contains some of my favourite tropes: fated mates, rejected mates, shifters and best of all for me, a strong alpha female FMC.

Sky has a lot to take on after losing her father, finding out what happened to him and getting justice, becoming the Alpha of her pack and dealing with challenges of that because she’s a woman, the rising tension with the Langley sleuth and then throw on finding out she’s set to be married off to the Alpha of the Whitlock pack.

This then becomes even more complicated when she discovers he and his closest friends are her fated mates.. What I loved is she stayed strong despite everything piling on top of her. It took a minute for me to fully get in to the book and her journey in general but then it was all systems go.

I’m a sucker for an alpha protective guy and I was not disappointed with these, my favourite was Zeke and the way he made himself vulnerable and wanted to prove he’s worth more than his name and reputation to Sky, my heart melted a little.

Monte is giving me red flags, I have a feeling he’s not being fully honest with Sky, I have my eye on him..

We’re left on a doozy of a cliffhanger which I am just not ok with and maybe in denial, hopefully my questions will be answered in book 2!

Rachel is So Talented!!

I have adored Rachel since her debut book Ascension was released and her new world keeps all of the promises I have come to expect from her writing.

This new world of wolves is recovering after a loss and I truly, truly enjoyed falling in love with Sky - she is an incredible FMC! Not to mention her hot as anything men too. However, full disclosure, Rachel throws us right off the cliff at the end and it's brutal!

Doesn't stop me loving it though.

Bonded and Betrothed, the first book in the Fated Pack series by Rachel Callahan is an absolutely phenomenal read! If you’re a fan of paranormal fated mate RHs with plenty of hot alpha males, a kick butt alpha female and lord of steamy chemistry between them all—then read on! Jam packed with amazing characters, an action filled plot, betrayals and deceit at every turn and secrets that will leave you questioning everything you know, this book is a definite must read.

Skylar, our ferocious FMC, has returned to lead her pack as the alpha after her father was murdered, and she is on a mission to find his killer and seek revenge. However, with plenty of twists and turns, deceitful betrayals, mysterious secrets and questionable allies and foes lurking around every corner it may not be as easy as she thinks. Can she trust those she knew as a youth, or has too much changed in the ten years she’s been gone?

Monte, her beta, and supposed “friend” seems happy to have her back, and informs her of a marriage agreement between her and the alpha of another pack that her father made with them in order to form an alliance to protect both packs from the bear sleuth that is slowly trying to take over their land and reign chaos upon them—but Monte oh so conveniently has a solution of a fake engagement…to himself.

Though when they meet up to discuss the agreement and her “engagement” Skylar soon discovers that the other alpha, Everett, just happens to be her fated mate…as well we some of his sexy and fierce friends—because in this world, female alphas have multiple mates to call their own. Though instead of a happy discovery, both reject the bond, but still agree to work together against the common enemy. However the others aren’t so quick to reject and want to give it a try.

Teaming up, they all work together to fight against the bears as well as to discover who the traitors are amongst their pack and to find out who murdered Skylars father. The question is…will those be the answers they’re looking for that will bring them together, or will it tear them apart for good? Overall, if you love a good fated mate rh shifter romance with lots of action and a female alpha that doesn’t back down, then this one is for you! And that amazing cliffhanger of an ending? Totally epic! I cannot wait for the next story to find out what’s going to happen next!

I found this book very boring. The FMC, Skylar, isn't what I was expecting from a character from Rachel Callahan after reading her other series. Skylar is insipid, judgmental (she judges one of her mates for being an assassin but parades around carrying guns and knives, I mean... Are you wearing them for show or what?), and nothing she does reminds me of an Alpha. I suppose I get why the pack doesn't trust her.

Also, there is some plot weirdness that I didn't like.
Her father marrying a rando because he was numb is one of them. Who marries without knowing what they are doing ffs?? It feels like Skylar is putting all the blame in her evil stepmom (no surprise here) but not on her deadbeat father who married another even though he was grieving his mate. Not only that, they had a kid together. Her father also managed to exclude Skylar from the shifter world, something that makes ZERO sense. "Oh look, you're my heir. Here, stay away from your future pack doing god knows what!".

The villain here is quite obvious too (I'm looking at you, Monte), and Skylar better step up on her badass game because she's all talk for the moment.

As for the mates, because I didn't like Skylar very much, I suppose I didn't care about her mates either. They are the typical Alpha men, nothing to.write home about. For now, since it's not finished, I'm putting this to rest. Maybe I'll try to read it again in the future, and maybe it will be better, but idk.

Bonded & Betrothed was a fantastic book! It was a fast paced, slow burn, reverse harem that I didn’t want to end! That cliffhanger has me praying that things are not what they seem!

I love that Skylar’s mates came around one at a time, and the moment they connect and they realize what’s happening! I love it! As far as the mates go, Everett has completely captured my attention as the broody, possessive alphahole. My favorite type. Zeke with his charming & playful side and really hard to resist. Arsenio with his fiery demeanor, and Zayne who seems to be the softy of the bunch & a little out of his element. I absolutely can’t wait to see where this harem goes after they get to know each other better, and accepting the bonds…if they do.

There is constant action that keeps you hooked and makes the book hard to put down. So much suspense, secrets, the fake relationship, fated mates, spice, killer storyline, and so much more! This is a must read book for lovers of PNR, fated mates and Reverse Harems! I can’t wait to find out what happens in book two!

After the murder of her father, Skylar is back to lead the pack. Finding the killer amongst all the lies and secrets won’t be easy. Throw in fated mates, an uneasy alliance, and bears out for revenge, and you have yourself and action packed,
murder mystery romance.

A great story with fantastic characters. Can’t wait to get my hands on book 2.

I LOVE a good shifter romance! A shifter romance AND the female lead has multiple mates? SIGN ME UP! Really though, I enjoyed this book quite a lot. Skylar, the FMC, returns home after many years away from her pack. Now filling the role of Alpha of the Draven pack following her father’s murder, she is also thrown into a conflict with a sleuth of bears who are looking for revenge. On top of that, a tentative alliance with another pack and throw some mates into the mix and you’ve got yourself an action-packed steamy romance!

There was very little downtime in the book and I was very much okay with that! Even the quieter moments between Skylar and her mates, they still felt like a lot was happening; sort of heavy with a lot of the questions still up in the air between them, the sexual tension (and there was A LOT of it!), or just the need between them. Skylar had a lot to balance: trying to do what was best for her pack, getting settled back into pack life, handling her anger about the deal made without her knowledge AND the grief regarding her father’s murder, her feelings about her mates and how they may affect her future, and also how to stop a potential war with the bear shifters (and they’re very creepy leader). She is pretty badass character as far as I’m concerned. From the get-go she stood her ground, even if on the inside she was struggling. She was not going to let anyone push her around or keep her from a fight despite being thrown into the deep end almost immediately upon her return to her pack.

The guys, all strong in their own right, immediately want nothing more than to be in her life and they work hard to show her she should let them in. While I’m normally a fan of the full-on alpha behavior in these situations, which they definitely did at certain points, it was a little refreshing to have them really work for here even while she was pushing them away at times.

I had a bit of anxiety at the end and I cannot wait to read the next book. Although I have a feeling, I’m in line to just have MORE anxiety.

Quick Notes:
💜Shifter romance
💜Super sexy alphas
💜Strong female lead
💜Reverse Harem Romance
💜Cliffhanger
💜Some mystery and surprises along the way

Some of my favorite things:
💜The feelings I had reading the scenes where Skylar meets each of her mates. They were each unique, just like each of the guys.
💜 Skylar as a strong, take-no-shit Alpha.
💜 Ugghhh, the guys, I love them. That is all. I’ll share more on that subject after the next book, I’m sure.

My heart knew immediately who she was to me before I noticed the bond linking us to one another. She was perfect—is perfect, and that stunned me, her beauty knocking me off guard.

I was so excited to read Bonded and Betrothed – Fated mates is one of my favorite tropes; mix it with a bit of rejection, and I am a very happy reader. I was thrilled that the FMC was strong – an Alpha in her own right, the alpha of her pack.

The political intrigue, inter-pack betrayals, and threats from outside sources hooked me. I loved the world of wolf shifters mixed with mafia and crime.

The romance is medium-burn but still spicy – the sexual tension is insane. I foresee some very, very intense scenes to come once every bond has been secured.

Rachel got us with that cliffhanger. I am ready for book two!

Genre: Paranormal Romance
Tropes/Features: Wolf Shifters, Alpha FMC, Fated Mates, Alpha mates, Twins, Chosen Family, Arranged Marriage, Betrayal
Narrator: Multiple 1st Person POV
Relationship Type: Why Choose – MFMMM, Medium burn, spicy
Book Type/Ending: Book One in the Fated Pack series, significant cliffhanger

This is the first book I've read by Rachel Callaham and wow was I blown away!

I did go into this practically blind. I just saw sexy shifter, reverse harem and vengeance to serve and just went sign me right up!

I loved the fresh feel this book gave me over having Skylar as an Alpha of her own pack. I haven't come across a shifter book where the FMC was the alpha before, so this took me by surprise.

Skylar has a fear of finding her mates and when she finds her first mate... Well, let's just say I was shocked. I'm so glad that by the end of the book she overcame this fear. I don't think I would have been able to take it if that wasn't the case. Especially when we have Everette, Zeke, Arsenio and Zayne in the mix.

My main love for this book comes from having a villain and an unredeemable villain at that. Finding this for me is rare and being able to have someone to just hate is everything to me.

The plot moves pretty quickly with so much going on. How could it not? We have Skylar finding her mates and needing to overcome her fear, her search for her father's killer, the turf wars between her pack and the bears, that's not even including the family drama and Monte.

Monte, I have my eye on you I  just know you're going to end up being trouble.

The ending has left me in this weird place of needing to know what happens next to this very second. But also not wanting to know as I have a feeling that I know what's next and I'm just not ready for it.

If you like drama, reverse harem, sexy scenes, the paranormal. Then this book really is for you!

Now don't mind me I'm just going to read all of Rachel's books whilst I wait for the next book to be released.

This book was so good. There was so much going on and so many secrets, lies, and betrayals that I just couldn't put it down. Oh and I can't forget about the romance because this book was STEAMY! There is no petty and childish drama which I loved and it was all down to earth and real. Once you pick up this book you wont be able to put it down.

The book starts out rough, with a sluggish funeral scene wherein FMC exerts her new alpha power against the priest unnecessarily and refers to her late father’s widow as “step-monster”; a cringeworthy term in itself, made worse by the fact that FMC specifically mentions that she started calling her that from the first moment her dad told her he was remarrying—meaning that FMC never gave the woman a chance—and the same appears to be true for her half-sister, an eight-year-old child whom FMC mentally dismisses as she’s lamenting the fact that her sister and her father’s widow are permitted by his will to live in his home and receive an allowance (in FMC’s control) from his estate.

It’s an ugly look for an MC, to be this controlling and resentful of her grieving family, so I started from a place of intense dislike that she had to overcome to get back in my good graces. FMC mentions how she blames herself for her mother’s death but instead of humanizing her, I’m also thinking the author decided to invent things for FMC to feel guilty about instead of being self-aware enough to realize she is already flawed.

The FMC’s first actions in her new role as Alpha of her pack are all about cowing people with her alpha powers and rejecting her father’s plans and legacy because she’s against the concept of arranged marriage—so stubbornly in fact that it doesn’t matter if it would strengthen her pack during a time of transition, and not even if he was her fated mate.

Her tendency to use her alpha power to push down all dissent in her ranks belies her stated goals of bringing her pack into the twenty-first century and having betas she can rely on to call her out when she’s wrong. She is actually surprised that manage to work together without constant power struggles, probably because she has so many power struggles within her own ranks and is terrified to show any emotions in public, at home, or in the shifter club she owns, lest any emotion other than cool, collected dominance and disinterest cause other shifters within her pack to challenge her. It’s actually kinda confusing because she is stated to be the *only* alpha wolf in her pack, not just the head honcho capital-A Alpha, and packs can’t be run by beta wolves, so who would challenge her? Is this paranoia even justified?

Throughout the book, FMC devastatingly strings along her hopelessly enamored childhood best friend with a while hating her stepmother for the horrible crimes of offering to organize an on her behalf, wanting to keep her husband’s ashes with her, and alluding to how hard it must be for her little sister, having lost a parent at the age of eight, which FMC strangely takes as a personal slight directed at her and her mother, who she lost when she was sixteen.

Adding to the FMC’s hypocrisy is the fact that after she tries to step into her new role with zero knowledge of the privilege she holds, which the bad guy pointed out in his villainous monologue. His people have been marginalized and still live in poverty, while she lives in a gorgeous manor when she’s not living it up in NYC She even has the nerve to think that her ridiculous guilt over her mom’s death is comparable to Zeke

The book ends on a cliffhanger, with FMC bonded and betrothed From the title alone, I had actually expected more of a resolution to either of those issues, or at least for her to get to know her mates better, but the plot is so incredibly dense and pressed for time, with the entire book happening over the course of just a couple days. It feels mostly like a setup to a larger story arc, and the characters’ personal journey was pretty shallow by comparison. Somehow I doubt any of the personality issues I brought up with the FMC will be fixed in the next book, which leaves me reticent to continue the series. Eh, maybe?

Skylar's whole world came crashing down around her with the death of her father. What is worse is that he was murdered. Now the role of Alpha has fallen squarely on her young shoulders. Two tasks are foremost on her mind, to protect her pack and to find her father's killer and avenge his death. The pangs of sympathy Skyler brought forth in me, solidified into my need for her to succeed. Not only for these two tasks she set herself but the almost debilitating guilt she carries, a guilt that even keeps her wolf apart from her. I love how strong the author made Skyler, she could have ended up this mushy mess but instead the author showed a very strong woman, a woman who straps knives and guns to her body and best of all, she knows how to use them, a woman with a sharp tongue and an even sharper presence! It's just her wolf she unintentionally suppressed...

And then, yes then, a few very earth shattering things happen...first her childhood sweetheart coerces her into faking their engagement, heck I could understand why but I don't trust Monte as far as I can spit, there's something there that raises my heckles. But I digress... secondly, the Alpha she has to try convince to ally with her pack turns out to be...wait for it...her mate! And that's not all, another three Alpha's are fated mates. I felt for Skyler, clinging fiercely onto never wanting a mate to suddenly having four! I laughed when she tried to push the mate bond aside, yeah, we all know how well that works out, trying to best destiny. And these mates, what can I say other than WOW! No not their looks or physical appearance, they're just so nice! Don't let them hear me say "nice", but they are, they really are!

This book isn't only about fated mates, it's about betrayal, it's about intersection, it's about friendship and deceit. The fight is real, the Bears are encroaching, attacking the wolves and something needs to be done, urgently! Uhhh, did I dislike Aldric from the onset, pompous, arrogant so and so! A well thought out plot which added omph to this shifter tale, a lot of intrigue and action, of unrequited love. I'm so ready for book 2!

This book checks all the boxes, if you’re in the mood for a shifter, fated mates romance! Skylar is in a difficult spot, trying to step into her role as Alpha of the pack after her father’s death. She has been away from the pack and wolf society for the last ten years, and now she has to learn on the fly while grieving her father. The situation is made even more complicated by the terms of an alliance her father was working on with a neighboring rival wolf pack - he had given Skylar’s hand in marriage to the alpha of the other pack without her knowledge. Unfortunately, due to extenuating circumstances with a local bear shifter sleuth, she can’t just dismiss the alliance, which means she has to come up with a plan to keep the alliance without bartering her freedom. Meeting her true mates just adds more complications that Skylar is not ready to deal with.

There is a lot going on in this book, it definitely keeps the pages turning! Skylar has to balance grief with her new leadership role and she can’t show any perceived weaknesses. She doesn’t want to be a tyrant, but she does have to demand respect, and not everyone in her pack is happy to have her as the Alpha. We, as readers, are along for the ride with Skylar as she tries to figure out who she can trust. The twists and turns keep you guessing! Skylar’s mates are 🥵🥵🥵 and so is the spice. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

Another great start to a series by Rachel! Murder, wolves, bears, guns, sabotage, death. It has it all. I LOVED that the book started out with a female already Alpha of her pack, even though it came at the cost of losing her father.
Skylar is strong, vengeful, and an all around boss b$&ch. She has a deep fear of finding mates because of how the loss of her mother affected her father. Without giving away spoilers, I’m glad that the whole book didn’t focus on that fear and she overcame it rather quickly. It would have definitely annoyed me if she kept going back and forth on what to do about her feelings.
Skylar’s focus in this book is finding her father’s killer and the bear sleuth that is attacking wolf packs in the area. The bear alpha is a creeeeeeep. I don’t like him at all, so kudos to Rachel for completely villainizing him. I hope he gets what’s coming to his coward self.
As for her father’s killer….she gets a lead at the end which ends in a cliffhanger….and it can’t be true! Ugh. I love all the action in this book, the hard decisions Skylar has to make, and the relationships developing with her mates. If you like a good shifter romance with multiple mates, action, and a female alpha, then you’ll love this book. I can’t wait to read the next!

I'm in love!! Amazing start to this new series!

Bonded and Betrothed is book 1 in the Fated Pack series. Its a paranormal reverse harem.

Skylar is back in her pack, after being gone for the last 10 years. Her father just died, and she is now Alpha. He was murdered and she wants to find out who did it. She is also stuck with her "step monster" and half sister.

Monte, her beta, ex boyfriend and friend (even tho towards the end I was getting some weird vibes from him) tells her that her dad promised her to the Alpha of the Whitlock pack, Everett. As a female Alpha, Skylar will have more than 1 mate, but she doesnt want any mates at all.

Everett, Zeke, Arsenio and Zayn are all mates to Skykar. On top of dealing with that, she has to find her dads killer, cement her spot as Alpha to her pack, and find out who is betraying her and giving info on the pack away. Then, Rachel sends us off an awful cliffhanger!?!?!?

I cant wait for more!!! I was instantly sucked into this world, and I adore Skylar. I also need a Zeke of my own, i know we don't have to pick favs with RH but that man is HOT!!! This series is gonna be EPIC!!!!

This author game out the gate hot with this one! Skylar having been away from her pack for a long time is immediately thrust into her new Alpha role after just losing her father. Let me tell you this woman right here is a force to be reckoned with and she is determined to find out who murdered her dad and she is not about to let a little old thing like an arranged marriage get in her way. She is will to go toe to toe with the alpha from the other pack and any of males that get in her way except when she meets said alpha from the pack she is supposed to align with she finds out he is one of her fated mates *mic drop* Zeke, Zayn, Everett and Arsenio oh boy!!!! These men are willing to do whatever it takes to protect their mate *swoon* I feel like there is so much happening that we haven’t really found out about yet and what the he!! Is going on with Monte (Beta to Skyler, friend and ex) I liked him at the beginning but started getting some bad juju vibes throughout the book. So I’m really interested in seeing how this story unfolds especially after that brutal ending that had me gasping and my heart in my freaking throat. I cannot wait for the next book!

Wow, what an emotional start to a story, it had me in tears. I’m barely 10% of the way into this book and I know I love it already.
Omg my smile was so big when Sky met the the Whitlock alpha . I was doing a huge scream inside my head. The scene with Zeke oh boy I think my brain is about to explode haha.
I couldn’t help but laugh when Sky was a little drunk and mixed Zayn up with Zeke.

The book just kept getting better and better as the pages went on. I practically whizzed through it because I couldn’t read fast enough , I needed to know everything all at once.
I love this book, I just can’t get enough of it.
Yep it’s a sure thing that I’ll be recommending this book to anyone and everyone.
The author did such a great job at world building, she created such a fantastic world and intriguing characters.
This is certainly a fast pace story, full of lots of details and some steam too. I can’t wait for book 2 to find more out about Sky and her mates.
I just can’t put my finger on it but there’s something about Monte that I just don’t like.

So basically I think my brain just about imploded at that shocker of an ending. I can’t believe I’ve got to wait a whole year for book 2 😩

Enjoyed this book

I really liked this book. It had all the feels. Passion, betrayal, falling in love, second chance friendships… so much and of course murder. There were a few spots where the plot didn’t seem to go anywhere which got kinda boring. Lots of chatting back and forth but maybe that was to build up the characters. I skimmed those parts as I was starting to lose my concentration. The plot was actually intriguing. Female alpha pretty much exiled until her dad gets murdered. She comes back to take over the pack and find out who killed her dad who is also the alpha of the pack. Over the course of the book, she finds true mate bonds with 4 men. A real surprise on that last one. Who knew?! I suspect Monte as the mole and master conspirator on the murder of her dad and working with the sleuth. He just seems shady all the way around. Not respecting her space, pushing the engagement, making it seem like the pack would rebel against her. He’s definetly got something happening in the background and I can’t wait to find out what it is. I don’t believe that video. Or if it’s true, then maybe that conversation Everett and Zeke had makes sense then. We will see!!

Bonded and Betrothed was an absolute powerhouse of a book! She is a thicccc book and full to the bring of characters, plots, betrayals and secrets. Skylar is a rare female Alpha who has been treated badly by her neglectful father, and even so she remains loyal to him and their pack. When he is murdered she finds her life turned upside down and she's left trying to lead a pack who is stuck in the old ages and she's not connected to. Not only that, but she's got to try to find out who her Father's murderer is and deal with four brand new fated mates and a former flame who is trying to reconnect with her. Sky spends the majority of her time trying to fight the bonds, scared of what it means to her and in doing so pushes aside her wolf further, who she's already disconnected from due to her separation from the pack. I loved all the different characters in this, especially Skylar and her guys. I am massively concerned about the cliffhanger but I have no doubt book 2 will be just as epic as this one!

4.5 rating rounded up to 5

Skylar unexpectedly becomes Alpha of her pack. She’s been gone for 10 years and has to catch up on the packs business. Her former best friend/boyfriend and current beta Monte helps her acclimate to her new Alpha status.

Everett, Zeke, and Arsenio are the Alphas of another pack that they have alliances with. They have a common enemy and need to work together. However, as soon as she meets them her mate bond explodes.

She is struggling with the death of her father, the previous Alpha, while trying to lead her pack. Now she has 3 mates to get to know. Just as things start to make sense, Zayn pops in and becomes her fourth mate.

I love a strong FMC and Sky although unsure at times is strong and fierce and so loyal to her pack. She has so much hope for what it can become. Each of her mates are so different. We didn’t get to know much about them but I’m sure book 2 will give us more insight to their pasts.

Rachel…..that ending though 😩 How could you do that to me?!

An intriguing New World

Skylar's father has died and now she must return home. Once there she not only has to face the memories of her father, learn how to run her pack but finds herself betrothed to a complete stranger. Navigating a surprise betrothal and finding her fated mates is certainly a challenge she was not expecting.
As if all this emotional turmoil was not enough Skylar also finds her self on the precipice of a shifter war!
Skylar is a strong and determined character who shows the world her independence and confidence. Her fated mates are all unique with their own strengths. But there is certainly more to be discovered with them all.
Dark secrets are sure to be found and how our characters deal with the inevitable fall out from them is anyone's guess! Rachel loves to take us on a winding path and certainly keeps us on her toes with some secret paths and surprise obstacles.
As l have come to expect from Rachel, the cliffhanger is brutal but I know it will be worth it in the end.
A fantastic start to an incredible new series.

WOW! This is the first book I have read by Rachel and it just blew me away. I got swept up into the wolf shifter world, keeping me riveted to my seat the whole way through. I was gripping my kindle tightly, biting my nails with anticipation and gasping at the turn of events happening right before my eyes. It was one hell of a rollercoaster ride that I never wanted to end.

The characters were absolutely amazing, and I fell head over heels for Sky. She’s such a fierce character that has been dealt some tragic heartbreak in her life forcing her to take the Alpha position for her pack before she was ready. But she is a warrior and when faced with adversity, she fights like the fearsome Alpha wolf she is. The story is dark, gritty, emotional and filled with action, suspense, violence, betrayal, passion and love.

This was a really well written story that made me laugh, shocked me at times and then blew me away by the way it all brutally ends. Not sure how I going to be able to wait so long for the next part of the story. I need answers and I need them now!

Bonded and Betrothed is a great start to Fated Pack series by Rachel Callahan. This is a paranormal reverse harem romance with lots of mystery and action.

💜alpha FMC
💜 why choose
💜 mystery
💜 betrayal
💜 friendships
💜🌶🌶🌶 spice

Skylar had to come back for something that she was not ready for, but the there was no choice in the matter. Her father was killed and thus making her the Alpha of the Draven pack wether she was ready or not. Her step-mother, Vivian, and half sister, Pearl, were also there and people she would also need to try to get along with. She also had to make quick decisions about potential alliances and obvious threats from a neighboring wolf pack, the Whitlock pack, and the bear sleuth, the Langley sleuth. With so many decisions and mysteries she must figure out, will Skylar make the right ones? With she accept her fated mates? Will she find the one who betrayed the pack and killed her father?

This is the first of the series and does end on a cliffhanger. I can’t wait for the next one to come out so I can see what happens next.

A female alpha is a powerhouse in their own right. Bringing in multiple male alphas to be mates solidifies it.

Skylar is that alpha who yields her power fairly but still is no pushover. She’ll need it when she takes over her pack after her father is murdered and finds out she’s betrothed to a rival pack’s alpha. To make matters more complicated she deals with the fact he’s her fated mate along with others as well as someone in both their packs is selling them out to the bears who are out for blood.

The men - Everett, Zeke, Arsenio, and Zayn - are a formidable bunch though we’ve only scratched the surface with them. I can’t choose which one is my favorite since they all are so swoon worthy.

Expect some heavy steam and surprises that popped up. I have my suspicions on a few things or should say people and their intentions. And that ending is one that left so much unanswered to hopefully be resolved in the next book.

* I received this book as an ARC for an honest review.

This was the first book I’ve read by Rachel Callahan and it has been one of the best decisions I’ve made in a while.

Skyla has returned to claim her place as Alpha after the murder of her father and nothing goes the way she expected. With twists and turns in the form of grief, untold deals, mates, betrayal and more Skyla is put to the test the moment she returns. I love the way she remains strong and makes decisions based on what is best for her and her pack.

The guys are all so unique and yet work so well together to give Skyla pieces of what she needs. Everett, Zeke, Arsenio and Zayn have definitely made an impression and I’m so excited to read more.

Monte, Skyla’s ex, makes me extremely suspicious there is honestly no part of him I trust and I’m intrigued to see where his character goes.

I loved the writing, the world building and the characters so much and I can’t wait for book 2.
