Description

Dutch artist Vincent Van Gogh is one of the most beloved artists of all time. Today his paintings can be found printed on countless products from posters to coffee mugs to tote bags, but in his own lifetime, Van Gogh only ever sold one painting.

This 5-page booklet presents a project suitable for students in grades 2 - 5, inspired by Van Gogh's sunflower paintings. Using inexpensive oil pastels, students can achieve the vivid colors and look of textured brushstrokes reminiscent of Van Gogh paintings.

This lesson provides plenty of room for individual choice and creativity, and results in work that is unique, totally charming, and suitable for framing! You'll also find tips for success with oil pastels and a gallery of student work to inspire you.
